The Australian government has made changes to allow the Department to process more skilled visa applications faster, which will positively impact the extended timeframes that visa applicants have been experiencing.
Offering priority for skilled worker visa applications creates more opportunities for workers to come to Australia. This will help ease labor shortages within the Australian economy.
Ministerial Direction No 100:
- Prioritises applications in relation to healthcare and teaching occupations.
- Helps small businesses recruit overseas workers, which makes it easier for them to find the talent they need, faster. This change will allow more occupations to be eligible and make it easier for them to apply. The TMSS (Temporary Skill Shortage) category filters work in seconds, shaving days off your wait-time.
- Restores priority for Accredited Sponsors in all sectors, who are trusted employers. The goal is to help businesses thrive by providing them with efficient processing of applications.
- Eliminates the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) and critical sectors.
- The improvements in visa processing continue to make it possible for all cases to be processed efficiently.
- Positions that weren’t on the PMSOL will be able to be processed faster and leads to better service all around.
- Reduces priorities, which will increase efficiency and lead to better results and help speed up processing times.
The new priorities for skilled visa nominations and applications will be in effect for all skilled work visas that have not yet been granted.
The Australian government has made an effort to help regional Australia by giving priority to jobs related to the agricultural and other regional fields.
