Migration fees increase: What you need to know
If you are planning to apply for an Australian visa, here is what you need to know.
Who and why is it from?
The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has announced fee increases for a wide range of Australian visa subclasses. This change is part of the government’s annual review of visa application charges. These adjustments help cover administrative processing costs and improvements to the immigration system.
Amount of new fees
An overview of the new fees from 1 July 2025 are outlined as below;
- Partner 820 or 309 visa: $9,365.00
- Skilled nominated 190: $4,910.00
- Skilled independent 189 visa: $4,910.00
- Direct entry 186 visa: $4,910.00
- Skilled regional 491 visa: $4,910.00
- Skills in demand 482 visa: $3,210.00
- Tourist 600 visa: $200.00
- Student 500 visa: $2,000.00
- Temporary graduate 485 visa: $2,300.00
The above mentioned fees are per main applicant. Additional charges apply for secondary applicants and dependents
Salary increases
For new applications submitted after 1 July 2025, the minimum salary requirement has also been increased:
The Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) will increase from AUD73,150 to AUD76,515. This change will affect nomination applications under the Core Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) and the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186).
The Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) will rise from AUD135,000 to AUD141,210, impacting nomination applications for the Specialist Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482).
The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT), which applies to the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (subclass 494) and the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) (subclass 187), will also increase from AUD73,150 to AUD76,515.
