The Brief
Our client had just won a $5+ million contract to manufacture large-scale industrial equipment and did not have sufficient Australian workers to deliver the project on time. They were faced with moving the entire job to one of their offshore locations and shipping the equipment back to Australia or completing the project late. The client estimated that they needed 8 overseas workers in Australia to complete the job.
Our Solution
The client had access to skilled workers in Asia who were able to travel to Australia at short notice. We proposed 8 x Subclass 400 Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visas for the workers. We lodged the first tranche of applications within 2 weeks, completing all 8 within 3 weeks of receiving instructions from the client.
The processing centre approved all 8 applications after 2 weeks of processing without further request. The workers arrived in Australia and the project progressed to plan.

Reflections
Our client had already undertaken extensive labour market testing to confirm whether there were any suitably qualified Australians for the position, but was not able to recruit anyone. The client was very motivated to secure the workers quickly and we worked together in an effective, frictionless way to ensure strong applications were lodged for the 8 workers.
